Toll-Like Receptors
Toll-Like Receptors send the first signals to the immune system that trigger inflammatory immune responses. Some molecules from infectious organisms signal Toll-like receptors to activate inflammatory signals, and help the immune responses eliminate infectious organisms, while other molecules signal Toll-like receptors to suppress inflammatory signals, and enable the infectious diseases to survive . The innate immune system also has in place its own intrinsic signals that suppress inflammatory immune responses . The ability to effectively amplify these anti-inflammatory signals and translate these into new and effective therapies is a focus of Opsona Therapeutics.
