Innate immune responses are the body’s first line of defence against viruses, bacteria, and parasites that cause infectious disease. These responses trigger a cascade of inflammatory signals to T cells and B cells which then help clear the invading organisms and develop long lasting immune responses that prevent later infections. Sometimes, the inflammatory immune responses persist too long and cause problems associated with auto-immune diseases. Multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis are examples of autoimmune diseases caused by inflammatory immune responses.
Opsona is working on a number of highly innovative approaches to modulate the human immune system. We are working with biologists (soluble proteins & monoclonal antibodies) small molecules and peptides. More information on these products will be made available soon.
