Research Assistant – Opsona Therapeutics
 
Opsona Therapeutics is a development stage immunology company, focused on novel therapeutic and preventative approaches to autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The company is specifically interested in the fields of Regulatory T-cells and Toll-Like Receptors (TLR) and is building on intellectual property generated through the work of three TCD Professors; Kingston Mills, Luke O’Neill and Dermot Kelleher,  who are also co-founders of Opsona. 
 
Opsona are seeking to employ a Research assistant on a fixed contract for 6 months with an option for permanency
 
Roles and Responsibilities
 
Support the activities of the Assay Development group especially with regard to cell culture. Key tasks will include the following:
 
  • Establishment and maintenance of modified cell lines
  • Running of cell-based functional assays
  • Running of  ELISA-based assays
  • Teaching techniques to technicians & scientists where required
  • Help technician(s) to ensure the smooth running of the lab
  • Writing up & reporting of research findings to scientists/senior scientists
  • In addition , the RA might be asked to assist with the following techniques (training will be organized if necessary):
    • Flow cytometry
    • Immunofluorescence/Confocal microscopy
    • High Content Analysis
 
Reports to:  Group Leader Assay Development.
Contract term: 6 months
